Thoughts on Blogging

WOW! I've managed to blog every week, for a little over a month now. I'm shocked because every single time that I've tried to write again, I would only upload about once every 4 months. Back in 2004, when I first started blogging, I was just a teen posting her thoughts all over the internet. I wouldn't say my entries were great because they weren't supposed to be. It was just a bunch of ranting and obsessing over my first love, but what makes a good blog post anyway?

DIY, fashion, food, lifestyle, tips, reviews? I think if you're going to categorize your blog, you must make it as original as possible. Even in the way that you write.

After coming back online to share my online diary with the world, I've noticed the blog community is very commercial. I see the same things over and over again. I was afraid of getting sucked into that as well. I took a few days to think about what I really want to do with this platform. I really just want to babble and post pretty photos, and I want people to actually read what I write about. If you are worried about people just scrolling by and not interacting with you, try being yourself. Sure, sponsored posts are cool, you can create a bigger audience, and make some money, but thats about 10% of what I will post on here.

Joining Facebook groups & Instagram pods will get your blog out there. I can say, I've met a lot of amazing writers recently, and gained an organic crowed, so thats pretty awesome. If you are one of those people, thanks.

Sh*t is about to get really real, up in here.

May Flowers

Top - H&M, Pants - American Apparel, Shoes - Jaclyn Smith, Rings - H&M, Bracelets - Etsy

Its May! Seems like this weather is out of control. The east coast is getting hit hard with really cold days, or, disgustingly hot days. Today seems like the temperature is finally in between. I honestly don't remember what May air is supposed to feel like. But anything between 60-75 degrees is ok with me. Today is a good day for a tank top and a light jacket, or, a thin long sleeved blouse, which is what I decided to throw on.

Like I said before, I'm known for wearing mostly black. Last year I took every colorful item out of my closet and gave it away. People like to assume that I'm goth or an unhappy person. The truth is, I used to be goth, and black is my happy color. Most of the week, I wear yoga pants and flip flops to work. Since I can't seem to find a place and time to style myself all fancy, when I do have a moment, you can catch me in an outfit like this. Kind of girly, kind of dark, kind of trying.

I've noticed a rose print trend going around. Who does't like roses? Its been hard to find prints that don't all look the same. I found this top and thought it was different than the others. It reminds me of a water color painting.

These disco pants are my go to. Literally... I wear them too much. Mainly because they make my butt look great.

Also got this beautiful crystal bracelet as a gift from my boss. I'm obsessed!

P.S. I think I'm finally learning how to use my camera properly.

Hair Routine with OGX Beauty & Simply Straight

I would have to describe my hair as, thin, frizzy, and damaged. I wish that wasn't the case, but my hair has seen better days since using OGX beauty. OGX products contain natural oils to keep my hair looking healthier than ever. I love using their Brazilian Keratin Therapy shampoo & conditioner, which contains coconut oils, keratin proteins, avocado oil, and cocoa butter.

My hair used to be pin straight, growing up, but it has become wavy, and dry, due to constantly bleaching it during my scene kid days. Now, to keep it sleek, I use the Simply Straight Ceramic Straightening Brush. Honestly... I thought it was a gimmick at first. Those "as seen on TV stuff" actually work sometimes, and this proves it. I picked mine up at  Bed Bath & Beyond. Its so easy to use. Just turn it on, set your temperature, and brush your hair like you normally would. I love this because I'm clumsy, and always burning myself with a flat iron, but I never get burned by my straightening brush.

After I'm done straightening my hair, I apply OGX Coconut Miracle Oil. It is what is says it is... a miracle. Since its kind of thick, I only use a small amount, because a little goes a long way with this. I focus mostly on the ends of my hair. Thats where it can look a little dry even after a fresh cut.

This is the best my hair has looked in years. My advice to you is, try not to bleach your hair so much, like I did. If you are interested in doing so, book an appointment with a professional. If your hair is already damaged, give OGX a try. You won't regret it.

Denim Blues

Crop Top - American Apparel, Oversized Button Down - Vintage / similar here, Acid Wash Pants - H&M, Shoes - Old / similar here

I'm known for wearing mostly black, white, grey, and beige... BUT when I do rock some color, my favorite way to do it is with denim. Here is my take on the Canadian tuxedo. My style has not changed since I was in high school. I still dress like a pissed off teenager sometimes. I totally stole the button down from my aunts closet, and I think its from the early 90's. Sometimes I use it as a shirt around my waist or wear it as a light jacket in the spring time. Since it is getting warmer out, instead of wearing thick denim material, I will usually go for jeggings, then jump into my favorite badass boots and I'm good to go.
